Also, store employees are humans too and might be tired or negligent. There have been negligent discharges from employees and customers in gun stores before. This is why you always want to check. Checks are free! Always check new guns that you're looking at, ask the staff if it's OK to dry fire in the store, and point the gun in a safe direction, while being mindful of those around you. On the other hand, people see all the cool mods that are available and want to customize theirs as soon as possible. I'm 100% for making the gun as easy for you to use and defend yourself with as possible, but not all mods are good mods. Sending 1,000 rounds down range in a training environment will help you get a better understanding of the gun and of yourself before you start adding things and regretting them later. Training with your weapon isn't just about being like John Wick. It's also about knowing the ramifications and consequences that WILL come after using your weapon, even if you were in the right. They're a bunch of people in the legal system who have it out for honest, law abiding citizens who carry, so it's your responsibility to know the laws of your state. You do that by taking a permit class. You also get the added benefit of the reciprocity, legal benefits and training with other people. You'll eat humble pie in a permit class, not only because you may not shoot as well as you thought you could, BUT you'll realize that your work buddy who told you something was legal, actually isn't. I wish Permitless Carry was pure and it wouldn't come back to bite you in court, but it can and probably will depending on the situation and the state you live in and who's on your case.
